Gesture Recognition with a Wii Controller

Summary:

  1. Get a wii Controller and obtain the acceleration values.
  2. Filter the values and remove some of the redundant values
  3. Use Vector Quantization (K-means to form clusters)
  4. Feed to HMM with Bayes classifier
  5. Get the results (90%)

Discussion:

Nothing to discuss as I just see it as application paper.

Silly Pankaj. There's plenty to discuss about this paper. We can spend quite some time discussing why this paper was bad, for example. Maybe we can also discuss why writing a Wiimote paper gives almost automatic acceptance in conferences. Oh, we have plenty to talk about :D

Wiimotes are new enough the real research is not out yet, but coming. I'm trying to standardize gestural notation so the Wiimote can be recognized as a valid music instrument, for instance. Paper out in December.
